Our History
'Muriel Sellick' Cattery
Our new improved cattery houses many cats all looking for new homes

Animals In Distress was formed in 1981 by Mrs Georgina Lang, Mrs Eileen Hunt and Mrs Muriel Sellick, who took care of the first dog for someone going into hospital. When Mrs Lang died, Mrs Sellick, together with other animal lovers, continued with this rescue work, using a small garage as headquarters. As more and more cats and dogs came into care, Animals In Distress grew, opening a charity shop and in 1994, buying a former greyhound kennels which became the Rescue Centre. We now re-home hundreds of animals each year.
